Jekyll Island, Georgia - Choose to Rejoice

Though the fig tree doesn’t bloom, and there’s no produce on the vine; though the olive crop withers, and the fields don’t provide food . . . I will rejoice in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my deliverance.

Jekyll Island, Georgia - "Blessed are All Those who put their Trust in Him"

Why do the nations rage,

And the people plot a vain 

   thing?

The kings of the earth set 

   themselves,

And the rulers take 

   counsel together,

Against the LORD and 

   against His Anointed,

   saying, 

"Let us break Their bonds

    in pieces

And cast away Their cords 

   from us."

He who sits in the heavens 

   shall laugh;

The LORD shall hold them 

   in derision,

Then He shall speak to

    them in His wrath,

And distress them in His 

   deep displeasure;

"Yet I have set My King 

On My holy hill of Zion."

"I will declare the decree:

The LORD has said to ME, 

You are My Son,

Today I have begotten You.  

Ask of Me, and I will give 

   You 

The nations for Your 

   inheritance,

And the ends of the earth

   for Your possession.

You shall break them with 

   a rod of iron;

   kings;

Be instructed, you judges of

   the earth.

Serve the LORD with fear,

And rejoice with trembling.

Driftwood Beach, A Tree Graveyard

The beach has driftwood and trees that resemble a tree graveyard. This is due to the north end of the island slowly eroding away and being deposited on the south end of the island.  The shoreline is strewn with the remains of fallen trees.  Deposited by storms, the uprooted, fallen trees are bleached and scoured bare by the fierce ocean winds and appear quite ghostly.

In a Disused Graveyard

 The living come with grassy tread
To read the gravestones on the hill;
The graveyard draws the living still,
But never anymore the dead.
The verses in it say and say:
"The ones who living come today
To read the stones and go away
Tomorrow dead will come to stay."
So sure of death the marbles rhyme,
Yet can't help marking all the time
How no one dead will seem to come.
What is it men are shrinking from?
It would be easy to be clever
And tell the stones: Men hate to die
And have stopped dying now forever.
I think they would believe the lie.

Nature's Beach Dunes, Sand and Sun at Jekyll Island

Unspoiled beach just before you reach the large construction site of the new convention center.  Once the center is complete, how much of the beach will remain intact in its natural state once the crowds come?
